This project presents an innovative solution to improve hygiene and promote touch-free waste disposal through the development of a smart dustbin using and an ultrasonic sensor. The system use an ultrasonic distance sensor (HC-SR04) to detect the presence of a hand or object near the dustbin lid. When a hand is detected within a specified range (e.g.,10-15 cm), this activates a servo motor that automatically opens the lid of the dustbin. After a short delay, the lid automatically closes. This enables users to dispose of waste without any physical contact with the bin, promoting cleanliness and reducing the spread of germs. This project is a great example of automation using embedded systems and encourages the use of electronics for daily life improvements.
